India made a challenging total of 163 with Suresh Raina hitting a sparkling 63 but they paid the price for slowing down significantly in the second half of their innings having been 90 for one after 10 overs. Sri Lanka timed their run chase perfectly.
Meanwhile, Australia beat West Indies by six wickets to finalise the semi-final line-up in the World T20. West Indies batted first in St Lucia but never threatened to post a decent total and were bowled out for 105.
And their weak performance was summed up when captain Chris Gayle bowled a bizarre attempted bouncer which went for four byes to seal Australia's win with a total of 109 for four.
