Indian Court Declares Kasab Guilty

Latest News Ajmal Kasab, 21, guilty of murder, waging war and plotting the Mumbai attacks that took place on November 26, 2008 in which around 166 people were killed and over 300 injured.

However, the court acquitted the co-accused Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin, Indian nationals who were also suspected of aiding Kasab, for lack of evidence.

The verdict was delivered by Judge M L Tahiliyani who convicted Kasab in all the 86 charges including waging war against the country.

The judge remarked that there is a clear proof that showed the plan was hatched in Pakistan and noted the attack equal to waging of war. Kasab is also held responsible for killing seven people directly in cold blood, while he is also held guilty for killing all the other 166 people including Inspector Hemant Karkare.

The court would award sentence to Kasab tomorrow. Ten gunmen sneaked into Mumbai on 26th November 2008 and unleashed 60 hours of mayhem that left 166 people dead and 244 injured.

The terrorists had targeted the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel, Hotel Oberoi-Trident, Cama Hospital and the Chabad House, a Jewish prayer centre and Leopold Cafe, a favourite among foreigners.
