NY Plot Suspect Faisal Shahzad Appears In Court

Faisal Shahzad, charged with trying to detonate a car bomb in New York’s Times Square appeared in a federal court in Manhattan, New York.

Magistrate Judge James Francis extended Shahzad’s detention period and ordered Shahzad held without bail.

Francis inquired about the accuracy of Shahzad statement of financial insufficiency after Shehzad's reply Fracis appointed an assistant federal defender, Julia Gatto, to act as Shahzad's attorney at no cost.

Faisal is charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, and four other felony charges relating to the failed car bombing.
