Hague Telephones Qureshi

The new British Foreign Secretary, William Hague called Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and spoke for over 20 minutes. Hague wanted to establish an early contact with the foreign minister to carry forward Pakistan-the UK relations and exchange views on issues of mutual interest and concern .

British Foreign Secretary said that these meetings had helped them develop a good personal rapport, which should contribute towards further strengthening Pakistan-the UK ties.

Hague said that Britain attached immense importance to its relations with Pakistan. He congratulated the foreign minister and the Government of Pakistan on the passage of the 18th amendment terming it as a very important development for long-term political stability in Pakistan.
