US Presents Iran Sanctions Draft To Security Council

US presented a draft resolution containing tough new sanctions aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear activities, however the draft seeks to support and not replace efforts to engage Iran diplomatically.

U S Ambassador Susan Rice said that door remains open to Iran to live up to its obligations and achieve a better relationship with the international community.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the United States and other major powers including China, France, Britain, Russia and Germany have agreed on a draft resolution for new U.N. sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.
