US Court Convicts Time Square Bomber of Terrorism

The 10-page criminal complaint filed Tuesday accuses the Connecticut resident of attempting 'to use a weapon of mass destruction' to kill people in the crowded center of New York on Saturday.He also faced four other charges -- attempting to kill people in the United States through international terrorism, carrying a destructive device, transporting explosives and attempting to destroy a building. He could be sentenced to life in prison.

Faisal Shahzad is said to be lived in neighbouring Connecticut and recently returned from a trip to Pakistan.He came to Pakistan on July 3, 2009 (passport number 446321055) and returned to the US on August 8, 2009.Faisal, however, told investigators that he acted alone and denied any ties to radical groups in his native Pakistan, a US law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said on Tuesday.
